The Goon Chinatown Story Is Coming!
We have been teased with the Chinatown story for ages now by Eric Powell. Just yesterday it was finally revealed that the graphic novel is finally under development. Awhile back I mentioned the upcoming Dwight T. Albatross Presents The Goon Noir series with guest writers and artists. Well it turns out that is all part of the plan to give Powell time to write and draw the Chinatown story.Eric Powell commented on the novel, "The Chinatown story is the pivotal event in the Goon's history and I think it's gonna change the way a lot of readers see him."
Right now the book is scheduled to be released sometime next year. Not sure when but as soon as I find out you can bet I'll be posting up the solicitation.

Feedback is the Next Superhero!

Yes tonight was the finale of Who Wants to be a Superhero?. It was down to Feedback and Fat Momma and their first mission was to head out to a stunt facility to see how they would look on the big screen. Obvioulsy Feedback was much more mobile and able to do all the stunts required of him.
Next Stan sat down and had a personal talk with both Feedback and Fat Momma. He questioned them about their personal life and who their heros are. Well Feedback told Stan how he was his hero since his father died. Once that happened he looked to comic books on how to be a good person. Fat Momma revealed that her father was her hero and how much she loved him. She also revealed that he won't be around for much longer and that his memory is fading. They had some real heartfelt talks with Stan.
As it came time to decide who would win the show I was rooting for Feedback. He really wanted to win and you could tell that it would be his dream come true if he won. All Fat Momma wanted was for her son to look up to her. So it all came down to the big announcement at Universal City Walk. They both came out to a little mini movie that was made using some of the stunt footage they used earlier with a green screen.
In front of everyone Stan announced Feedback the winner. I was so relieved to hear he had won. So he will now be immortalized in a comic book by Stan Lee along with his own Saturday Night Sci Fi Original movie. In addition to that he will get a vacation for 2 to Universal Studios and will get to participate in the Superhero parade. I can't wait to check out Feedbacks comic and movie.
Bob Sapp: The Beast?
He talks alot of game and intimidates alot of fighters into thinking he can easily manhandle them. Sapp certainly has the size and strength but lacks everything else. This video is an exaggeration but I found it humorous.

John Woo Presents Stranglehold
So far it all sounds bad ass, right? Well it also looks bad ass. You can check out the trailer below. The game will be launched on the PC, X-Box 360 and PS3 sometime in the first quarter of 2007.
Who Wants to Be A Superhero? Ep. 5 Review
I gotta say I really love this show. There is something about the people involved that is really somewhat touching in a way. These people in the beginning were really just a joke and I found myself mostly just laughing at them. But as the series has slowly come to a close I find myself really liking each of the remaining people.Tonight it was down to three people, Major Victory, Fat Momma and Feedback. They all did fairly well at all the tasks Stan had set up for them so who was going to go home tonight was really up in the air. But someone had to go, Major Victory shall be missed.
For a while it looked like Fat Momma was going to leave the show voluntarily. She really didn't want Feedback to lose. Feedback has sort of become very dedicated to the show and you can tell he really wants to win. I mean this guy has been looking up to superheros created by Stan Lee his entire life. His father died at a young age so he began looking to comics to teach him how to be a good person. Stan has been very gracious with Feedback and during the last episode even called him "son" at one point. A very touching moment to say the least.
I'm a huge Stan Lee fan and I really hope this show is picked up for a second season. But until than there is still one more episode. The finale for their own comic and movie. It will be either Fat Momma or Feedback. I hope Stan Lee makes the right choice.

BCI to Release Tony Jaa's Spirited Killer
I've never seen Rittikrai on camera but I have heard that he is a legend in his own right. The release of this film is to of course cash in on the release of The Protector this September but I'm still gonna check this one out.
Spirited Killer will be released in a 2 Disc special edition on September 19th for only around $14.98. The film tells the tale of a group of travelers visiting the exotic forests of Thailand. Soon it is suddenly attacked by a multi-weapon wielding maniac—the Spirited Killer (Panna Rittikrai). While some in the party manage to escape, others perish from the killer’s merciless blows. This forest dweller is hell-bent on destroying anyone who sets foot in his jungle.
Below is the trailer and you can preorder the movie right now.
New Trailer For Rockstar's Bully
It also appears that they have reached a release date for the game just in time for Halloween, October 17th for the PS2. But who knows, with video games nowadays they seem to always get delayed and pushed back further and further. Anyway check out the trailer below and you can check out the first trailer here.

The Goon Noir #1 On Shelves Soon
This is by far one of my favorite comics created by Eric Powell. This upcoming issue however is not being drawn or written by Eric Powell. Instead this is going to be a special issue presented by Dwight T Albatross featuring art by Mike Ploog, Bill Morrison, and Ryan Sook. The issue will revert back to the old black and white style and will feature some of the best scribes in the biz. This first issue will feature short stories by Patton Oswalt, Steve Niles, Tom Sniegoski, and Bill Morrison.
These series will last three issues and show the Goon threw a different lense. Personally I can't wait to see how some of these scribes look at The Goon but at the same time I can't wait til Eric Powell comes back. Sort of a two edged sword I guess. Right now The Goon Noir #1 is scheduled to be in comic shops on September 20th.

Seven Samurai Remake?

According to HKFilmart, a Seven Samurai remake is in talks of being made by the Weinstein Co. Apparently Donnie Yen is in talks to appear in the film. I'm a pretty big fan of Donnie Yen and I have loved all his work but can he really undertake a remake of Akira Kurosawa's classic Seven Samurai.
Kurosawa is the greatest Asian filmmaker ever. Now even though this is a remake it seems that films that are remade outside of the horror genre don't always turn out so bad. No doubt it won't live up to what the original was able to capture but this movie has a chance.
If they can get some really talented filmmaker on board and more martial arts talents like say Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Tony Jaa, all the greats to star as the Seven Samurai it would surely mark a great achievement. Of course thats only a dream at this point.

Black Snake Moan Teaser Posters
This one is coming from the director of last years Hustle and Flow. According to the posters Justin Timberlake is also appearing in the film. I think he will have a rather small role though considering the short synopsis given and the talent ahead of him. Not to mention I don't think he can act.
Here is the short line that is known about the film so far.. "A God-fearing bluesman takes to a wild young woman who, as a victim of childhood sexual abuse, looks everywhere for love, never quite finding it."
AICN has some high def versions of the posters below check them out here.

Snakes On A Plane Review
August 18th, finally the day had arrived when all the hype would be silent and everyone finally got to see if the film has lived up to it. May I be the first to say, "Fuck Yeah!". It was actually a lot less cheesy than I thought it would be. It was very well done and so far is the action movie of the year.Ok now that may be an exaggeration but so far it is definetly the best action film. We'll have to wait and see when Crank and The Protector hit theatres. But Samuel L. Jackson really made this movie shine. His role in this movie was pivotal and without him I don't know how the movie would have turned out. He had so many great one liners and action scenes that I don't think anyone else could have pulled off.
I also got to see a couple of my favorite actressess. Ever since I saw 2001 Maniacs I have really come to enjoy Lin Shaye. She really made a lasting impression in that movie and in this one as well. She had a small role but played it with class. Also in this film was my number one on screen hottie Crystal Lowe. She had a very small "extra" role... a cameo if you will. She looked stunning as always as "fan girl". If you have seen Final Destination 3 you will definetly be able to spot her.
The death sequences by David R. Ellis were fantastic. You could tell he employed some of his skills from Final Destination 2 in this film. All the snake bites were either really funny or just kick ass. I'm pretty creeped out by snakes so this movie definetly had me on the edge of my seat.
So if you haven't seen the movie yet, what are you waiting for?! Go see Samuel L. Jackson in Mother Fuckin Snakes On A Plane!

This Film Is Not Yet Rated
Today I was looking around and I discovered this great new documentary. I love documentaries. I just like the approach and the way everything is filmed in sort of a first person point of view. So with this new Docu being directed by Kirby Dick I had to check it out.The docu tries to get to the bottom of the bias and quite frankly fucked up ways of the MPAA. The trailer is simply priceless which shows the filmmakers hiring a private dick to spy on the MPAA to find out who they are. At one point they even go through the trash to find some names and see what notes they pass around.
Kirby also interviews many of the most out spoken directors including Kevin Smith, Matt Stone, and John Waters. I'm anxious to see what they have to say about how it has effected there films and even the way they are forced to market them.
This is exactly what I've been waiting for and I am eagerly awaiting the release of the film. Right now it looks to be getting a small theatrical release on September 1st where it will show in New York and LA. Hopefully if it opens well it will roll out into additional markets. You can check out the trailer here.

Guilty Pleasure: Who Wants to be a Superhero?
I have been meaning to write about this show for sometime now. I really like this show and for the life of me, I don't know why. Maybe its just because Stan Lee is such a down to earth cool guy or maybe its because I like laughing at people in latex costumes who think they are superheros.Whatever the reason may be I always find myself watching this show whenever it is on. I've only missed one elimination and that was Cell Phone Girl. I still don't know how she got kicked off but my favorite hero was eliminated last Thursday, Tyveculus.
So that leaves Fat Momma, Feedback, Major Victory, Creature, and Lemuria. Haha, yea thats their superhero names. Right now I'm pulling for the first three I listed. The "winner" of the show will get their character published in their own comic and a movie starring the hero they created which will be aired on SciFi.
You have got to check out this show for yourself. It airs every Thursday at 9pm on SciFi. If you want to get caught up on the show I suggest checking out the official website for the show.

Rockstar Brings Us Bully
No doubt will it be under alot of pressure as well since everyone in D.C. is keeping a close eye on this release.. Apparently they are concerned about kids thinking bullying is cool. Lets just say the old folks in the House and Senate have their fingers far from the pulse of the real problem and more worried about getting re-elected.
The game has been pushed back for ages but finally we are getting a good look at the game. This is the first I have seen the trailer for the game. So enjoy and its scheduled to be released in October...

Ramune: The Drink of the Gods?

Now I have recently discovered this fantastic new soda from the orient, Japan to be exact. It is called Ramune and man is this stuff good. I first discovered it in one of my many trips to the Asian Food market but I had never tried it.
Than one day I saw a couple of little kids order it at one of my favorite Asian restaurants in Chicago, Sushi Station. What turned me onto the drink is the unique way it is packaged. You see it is actually quite a process to open.
Basically the bottle is sealed by a little clear glass ball. When you break the seal at the top you are given a little opening device that pushes the ball down letting all the carbonation free. Let me tell you this drink is well worth the trip to your local Asian Food Market or ordering it online at Amazon.
Saw 3 Trailer Finally Hits The Web
So what can we expect now? Judging from the trailer it looks like we will be taking a trip back to the original, except this time we will be seeing the traps as they are sprung rather than flash back like the previous films. Well without any further ado check out the new trailer:

Tony Jaa is Back in The Protector
As you have probably noticed I have a soft spot for some serious Martial Arts films. In particular ones that go balls to the wall with the action. Now if you want a star in the genre look no further than Tony Jaa.Jaa is amazing and he is doing things that Jackie Chan wishes he could of done. Some have even went as far as to say he is the next Bruce Lee. Now I don't think he will ever reach the heights of Fame that Lee got mainly because Lee is a fallen hero, and a legend.
But anyway here is the synopsis for The Protector:
"The Protector " aka "Tom Yum Goong" tells the story of Kam (Tony Jaa), a simple village boy facing the challenge of his life. Kam and his father own two elephants, which they dream of presenting to his majesty the King of Thailand.
When the precious elephants are stolen and sold to Australia by a Thai gang boss, Kam realizes that he only way to save them is to take on the gang. Even with the help of Thai policeman Mark and Sydney-Based Thai girl Pla, Kam faces an uphill battle against gana boss Madame Rose and her fearsome sidekicks.
The Weinsteins have changed the release date and you will be able to check this out on September 8th in theatres everywhere.

Kevin Smith Is Coming to the Dark Side!!

Kevin Smith is one of my favorite directors. Possibly my absolute favorite even though he doesn't direct horror movies. Well that is all about to change! When Kevin Smith was at Wizard World in Chicago he revealed that his next film will be a horror film..
Bout time! Below is the video to prove it. I can't wait for this project to come about even if it takes a couple years to come to fruition.

Jet Li's Fearless Sneaks Up On Me
Alright well today we went to Tower Records and I picked up an odd magazine from the U.K. It was all about Japanese culture. It featured video games, DVDs, movies, and all kinds of other things. On the cover was Juon 2 so naturally I picked it up to see what else was in it.Inside they did alittle coverage on Jet Li's next film Fearless. I'm not a huge fan of Jet Li but I do like some of his films. Especially Hero, that movie was like a fucking moving painting. One of the most beautifully executed martial arts films I have seen. So long story short I am intrigued with how Fearless will turn out.
Here is the synopsis: Jet Li's Fearless reunites the actor and martial arts superstar with producer Bill Kong (Hero) and action choreographer Yuen Wo Ping (Unleashed) as he portrays martial arts legend Huo Yuanjia, who became the most famous fighter in all of China at the turn of the 20th Century. Huo faced incredible personal tragedy but ultimately fought his way out of darkness and into history, forever defining the true spirit of martial arts. His self-discovery, and the choices he made, inspired his nation.
The son of a great fighter who did not wish for his child to follow in his footsteps, the bullied Huo Yuanjia resolves to teach himself how to fight - and win. Years of training enable him to ace match after match in his home region of Tianjin. But as his fame as a martial arts master grows, so does his pride. After an ill-advised fight leads to another master's death, members of Huo's family are slain in revenge. Grieving and ashamed, Huo wanders the country in shock. Near death, he is rescued by women from an idyllic village, and is offered simple kindness and generosity that help him heal and regain his equilibrium over a period of several years. Huo realizes that the future of martial arts lies in sportsmanship and not brutality, and he rejoins society to apply what he has learned.
Returning to Tianjin, Huo takes steps to come to terms with his past and restore his family's name. His evolving, graceful Mizong (Missing) Fist method of fighting brings Huo renewed success, and he forms the progressive Jingwu Sports Federation. Taking note, duplicitous members of the Foreign Chamber of Commerce engineer a Shanghai tournament pitting Huo against four fighters, each representing the major foreign powers in China. Huo commits to the bout and faces off against, respectively, a British boxer, a Spanish swordsman, a Belgian soldier, and a Japanese martial artist. What happened that day in 1910 has never been, and will never be, forgotten in China.
Jason Statham is Back in CRANK
OK well right now its about 2:00 AM and I am sitting at the Radisson Motel with a laptop. Got alittle bored when I realized I have never mentioned Jason Stathams next film CRANK. I loved the first two Transporter films and I really like good kung fu flicks.I first saw the trailer for this movie before The Descent and at the beginning I actually thought that I had somehow missed that they were making a Transporter 3. The whole idea behind this movie is actually pretty good. Here is the synopsis I have so far:
Chev Chelios is about to begin his morning with an unexpected wake-up call. Groggy, practically unable to move and with a heart that’s barely beating, he hears the voice of thug Ricky Verona, who reveals Chev has been poisoned in his sleep and only has an hour to live.
As it turns out, Chev is a hit man who freelances for a major West Coast syndicate. A run of the mill job the night before instead went awry: he let his target slip away in an effort to quit professional killing and start a new life with his girlfriend Eve.
Now, Chev must keep moving to stay alive: the only way to prolong the poison from stopping his heart is to keep his adrenaline flowing. As the clock ticks, Chelios cuts a swath through the streets of Los Angeles, wreaking havoc on those who dare stand in his way. He must rescue Eve from danger, stay two steps ahead of his nemeses and search for an antidote to save his own life.
CRANK will be hitting theatres on September 1st and you can bet my ass will be there to see it. Check out the pimp trailer below..

Hide the Women and Children!

Yes folks I am invading Chicago this week. So I will probably not be able to update the blog for a week or so. If I get some internet access while I am on my trip I may stop and make a post just to drop in with little nuggets of info on what I am doing.
So far I don't have any solid plans except that I'm going to be hitting up Mitsuwa and Sushi Station. Mitsuwa is like a little Japanese mall. A really cool place to just check out all the crazy stuff they got. They have a little food court in their as well with authentic Japanese food which is good. We also will be hitting up Sushi Station. We always hit that place up for some good food.
Well hopefully I will get some internet access on the trip so I can update all the sites that I need to. I really hate leaving all my sites without being able to update them on the road. I think I need to start saving up for a laptop. Don't forget to keep checking in because I might be able to update sooner than I know.
So I've Seen The Descent
Well, I just saw The Descent last night and I have to say it didn't quite live up to the hype. Not to say its a bad movie but everyone was playing this movie up like it was the fucking Citizen Kane of horror flicks. Which it is not.Don't get me wrong though it is well worth the price of admission and is probably the horror film of the year. It will be a close race with Hostel for me though. The Descent had several hard hitting moments and a ton of gore which I think carried over from his work on Dog Soldiers.
I think Neil Marshall loves getting those aerial shots in his movies because he used quite a few in this movie as well. The opening of the movie is a real shock to the senses but than it does drag a little as you being introduced to the characters. Of course after that strap in for one hell of a ride. So overall I would say its definetly a movie you wanna check out in the theatres and then buy on DVD for the U.K. ending which I am hoping is much better.

Hot Fuzz Goes to Comic Con

Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright are some of the coolest guys around. They first brought us Spaced the television series. Which from what I have heard was fantastic. Then I was introduced to them ala Shaun of the Dead. A great comedy spoof of Romeros zombies done with class.
Usually I don't like British humor but these guys are funny as hell. I think because they have a lot of American influences. Whatever the case I am really looking forward to Hot Fuzz. Its their newest film about British police.
Heres the synopsis for ya: Top London cop, Police Constable Nicholas Angel, finds himself reassigned to the sleepy West Country village of Sandford. With garden fetes and neighbourhood watch meetings replacing the action of the city, Angel struggles to adapt to his situation and finds himself partnered with Danny Butterman, an oafish but well meaning young Constable. Just as all seems lost, a series of grisly accidents motivates Angel into action. Convinced of foul play, Angel realises that Sandford may not be as idyllic as it seems.
Recently they went to Comic Con to promote Hot Fuzz below is the two part video blog they did of their journey.

Grind House Teaser Posters Are Here!
Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez are two of my favorite directors of all time. So now they are coming together to do one movie that actually contains two movies? In my favorite genre, horror? This is unbelieveable. I cannot wait to see these movies.Tarantino will be making a kind of slasher film called "Death Proof". Basically its about this crazy guy who runs over hot chicks in his car. Well more like he hunts them down. Unfortunately Mickey Rourke is no longer in the role but Snake Plissken himself, Kurt Russell, is taking over the role.
Now inbetween the movies is where everything gets good. Back in the day they would have a sort of intermission in the old grind houses where they would show trailers. Well they have acquired the help of Eli Roth to direct some "faux" trailers to put inbetween the movies. Keep in mind all of this is being done 70's style.
Now Robert Rodriguez will be directing a crazy zombie flick titled "Planet Terror". Rose McGowan will be the central character in his film and she will apparently get her leg blown off as you can see in the poster not for long. At first I thought it was corny but than I heard there is a scene in the movie where she does a roundhouse kick and shoots a bunch of zombies in the head. PIMP.
I'm eagerly awaiting this bad boy to hit theatres on April 6, 2007. For now we can all enjoy the posters that were just unleashed today.

Mercury Man Ready to Kick Ass in Thailand

I recently came upon this little movie called Mercury Man. Basically a rip off of Spider Man only for Thailand. I have to say its been awhile since an Asian film has really grabbed me like this one has. Probably Ong Bak but than again that film was really fantastic and grabbed just about everyone.
Here is the synopsis: Chan, a firefighter, is accidentally granted an unnatural superpower from holy objects called Leklai. Realizing both of the positive and negative side of this power, Chan tries to keep its in balance and in the mix with his own blood. At the same time, he is hunted by the mafia group who wants to take back this superpower.
Sounds like some cheesy goodness. Even better the fight choreographers from Ong Bak are working on this one. Want proof? Watch the trailer below.
The Descent Hits Theatres Today

The Descent will be hitting theatres everywhere today and it is being hyped as the horror movie of the year. I have not seen it yet so I won't be so bold but I will see it tonight. It's been on the cover of Fangoria and Rue Morgue and the trailer that I posted a couple days ago looks very promising.
I'll be seeing the movie tonight and reviewing it for Horror-Movies.ca. So when it is up I will link it up here. I'm really looking forward to what Neil Marshall will do this time around. Hopefully he can bring some of the shine from Dog Soldiers to this film.

Asia Argento in The Mother of Tears

This news really comes as no surprise but its refreshing that it has finally been confirmed. Her father will be directing his final installment in the Three Mothers series. Asia will apparently be playing the lead role in the film, Sarah Mandy.
With Dario Argento returning to his more surreal style of filmmaking ala Suspiria this should be an interesting effort. The film is said to be filled with outrageous gore including a scene where one character becomes a demonic buffet while still alive and another where someone gets chopped to pieces.
Above all though, I am looking forward to seeing Asia Argento back on the screen. I really had no idea who she was until George Romero cast her in Land of the Dead. From than on I have been keeping an eye on this hottie. Lets hope this film will kick some serious ass.
V For Vendetta On DVD Today

Hey I just wanted to remind all you guys that V for Vendetta is being released on DVD today. Not only that but it is getting some great treatment if you buy it at Best Buy. Not only will you get the kick ass 2 Disc Special Edition but you will also get a V mask and 4 posters to go along with it..
All that with the film is one great buy. Even if you don't like the movie there is always the super hot Natalie Portman in the film. Also included in the 2 Disc set is the rap she did on SNL when she hosted to help promote the movie. So what are you waiting for? Run out to Best Buy and pick this bad boy up. I know I will..

The Descent.. Best Film Since Alien?
I'm not completely sold on this movie yet. Unfortunately I will be busy the Friday it comes out so I will see it probably on Sunday. I am really hoping this one comes through and lives up to the hype. I really loved Neil Marshalls first horror flick Dog Soldiers and I am hoping he brings a little of that with him.
The one thing it does have going for it is a all female cast. Check out the trailer before and feel free to leave a comment on what you think about the film.
Hottie of the Day: Scarlett Johansson
So without any further ado check out these luscious fun bags.. You can click on them for some hi res goodness..

One more reason to see Clerks 2

Now onto something else I'm going to be posting alot about on this blog.. Hot chicks.. Now not only do you get to see Rosario Dawson in Clerks 2 but the twins do a nice little dance as well.
Rosario is one of the coolest chicks in show biz today. A "name" actress who isn't afraid to show some skin but is also cool as fuck. She is really down to earth and digs alot of stuff that I do. Not trying to be like I could get with this chick because that would never happen. But I can always dream..
Go see Clerks 2!
Later on I heard I could get my name in the credits ala MySpace. So I went for it. Now not only did I have my name in the credits but the movie looked funny as hell. Because I was busy Friday and Saturday I got to see it on Sunday. What a blast.
The movie is funny as hell, one of his best despite what Joel Siegel thinks. All I have to say is lookout for Pillow Pants and Kinky Kelly. So what are you waiting for? Check it out!

TMNT Movie Will Kick Ass!

I believe I will open my blog by talking a little bit about my childhood. When I was a little kid I loved the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I watched all the cartoons, bought all the action figures and saw all the movies. I think they are even the reason I still have a soft spot for pizza..
But enough of that nostalgic bullshit.. The new movie simply titled TMNT looks kick ass. I really can't express how cool the movie looks. I was afraid it would look all fucked up like what Michael Bay is doing with the land rover footage for the live action Transformers movie.
IMAGI are handling this project great. I'm really excited to see this movie when it finally hits. I can't wait to see Splinter in some of the new scenes.
